Kakuma Refugee Camp, Northern Kenya.

Kakuma Refugee Camp is one of the largest in the world, established in 1992 with the arrival of the Lost Boys of Sudan, a group of more than 40,000 boys displaced or orphaned during the Second Sudan War. Today, it is home to hundreds of thousands of residents who fled extreme poverty, hunger, disease, rebel violence and socio-economic and political corruption.

During our visit, we offered refugees the chance to tell their stories; to speak about their poor living conditions in the camp. Our 17 hours of footage became the documentary Blood is the Same. We delivered two suitcases of art supplies and held an art workshop, which yielded powerful paintings illustrating refugee life.
